About the event

As we approach the 2026 beekeeping season, it's essential to focus on key strategies for managing your colonies during the spring. This class will cover the introduction of new NUCs, splitting hives, and other late-spring management practices to equip you with the necessary tools for success.

Introducing New Nucs

  • Timing: Introduce new nucs in early spring when the weather is warm enough for bees to forage and establish themselves.

  • Location: Place nucs in a sunny, sheltered area to promote activity and reduce stress on the bees.

  • Feeding: Provide sugar syrup or protein supplements to help the new colony build strength and resources.

  • Observation: Monitor the nuc for signs of successful queen acceptance and brood development.
